Where Dog
Says Meow.
The Bay Area's only mobile grooming salon built on a strange idea: that every pet — dog or cat — deserves to leave their bath calmer than when they started.
AKC-certified groomers. No cages. No chaos. No stress. We come to your door — Peninsula to San Jose.
You drop off your dog. You wave goodbye through the glass.
What you don't see is what happens next.
A cage. Three, four, sometimes six hours of waiting next to other anxious pets. A different stranger every time. A blow dryer running above their head while they shake. Then a rushed brush, a rushed cut, and a "pickup ready!" text — even though they've been ready for an hour.
By the time you bring them home, they're exhausted. Quiet. A little off. You tell yourself it's normal.
It isn't.
What "Normal" Is Actually
Costing Your Pet
Most dogs and cats don't show stress the way humans do. They hide it. Until it builds up.
Cortisol Stays Elevated
Stress hormones can remain raised 24–48 hours after a chaotic salon visit.
Mistrust Compounds
Pets learn to fear grooming tools. Each visit gets harder than the last.
Skin Irritation
Rushed handling and harsh products can cause hot spots and inflammation.
Worsening Mats
Pets that fight the next bath end up with tighter mats, harder de-mats, and shave-downs.
Behavior Shifts
Clinginess, hiding, snapping — symptoms owners often can't explain.
Repeated Trauma
8 visits/year × 12-year lifespan = nearly 100 stressful experiences. That's not grooming.
And the worst part? It isn't your fault.
You were never told there was another way.
The Day The Owners Walked Out of the Grooming Industry — and Built It Back From Zero.
After 15 years inside professional grooming, the owners had seen enough. The same dogs trembling in cages. The same rushed brushes. The same pet parents apologizing because their pet "wouldn't stand still."
It wasn't the dogs.
It was an industry treating living, feeling animals like items on a conveyor belt.
They tried to fix it from the inside. Trained colleagues. Pushed for slower appointments. Argued for cage-free drying. It didn't work. The model was the problem.
So they did the only thing left to do: they walked out, and rebuilt grooming from scratch.
No salon. No cages. No waiting room. Just a fully self-contained, premium mobile van — one pet, one groomer, one calm experience.
That was 10+ years ago.
Today, the AU-Q-MIA mobile salon serves 67,000+ pets across the Bay Area, with 4 AKC-certified groomers chosen because they share the same non-negotiable belief:
Every pet is family. And family doesn't go in a cage.
A complete reimagining of what grooming can feel like.
You don't drive anywhere. You don't drop anyone off. You don't pick anyone up rattled and exhausted.
Instead: a premium mobile salon parks at your curb. An AKC-certified groomer steps out. Your pet walks in calmly — alone, never crated, never rushed.
In 60–90 minutes, they walk back out: clean, soft-coated, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, scented, beautiful, and — most importantly — calm.
You never even left the house.
At a glance.

Why Regular Grooming Is a
Health Issue — Not a Beauty One.
Most pet owners think of grooming as cosmetic. It isn't. A dog or cat's coat is the front line of their entire skin and nervous system.
Week 4–6
Dead undercoat begins trapping moisture, bacteria, and oils close to the skin. Early matting starts at friction zones — armpits, behind the ears, base of the tail.
Week 6–8
Mats tighten. They pull at the skin every time the pet moves. Many dogs become subtly more anxious without an obvious reason. This is when most "behavior changes" actually start.
Week 8–12
Mats become pelts. Skin underneath becomes raw, hot-spotted, sometimes infected. Nails curl into the paw pad. Ear wax builds into impacted plugs. Anal glands can become impacted.
Beyond 12 Weeks
"Grooming" becomes medical de-matting — painful, unsafe, and often requiring shave-downs. The damage compounds.
The Rule of Thumb
This isn't an upsell. It's the standard of care your pet's veterinarian would tell you if you asked. Your AU-Q-MIA groomer will assess your pet's coat type and build a maintenance schedule around their real needs — not a generic calendar.

If you've read this far,
something resonated.
Maybe it was the cage that bothered you. Maybe it was the moment we described — your pet quiet and "off" after a salon visit. Maybe it was just the idea that grooming could feel calm. For both of you.
Whatever it was, trust it.
You don't have to keep doing what doesn't feel right. You don't have to apologize for your pet "not standing still." You don't have to drive across town and feel guilty about it.
There is another way. It pulls up to your door.
P.S. — If you're new to AU-Q-MIA, your first appointment includes $20 OFF with code WELCOMIA20 (Mon–Thu). Most first-time clients rebook within 4 weeks — and 9 out of 10 stay with us for life.
P.P.S. — Mobile slots in your zip fill up 2–3 weeks in advance. The sooner you book, the more flexibility you'll have on day and time. Your pet has waited long enough for grooming to feel like this.
